Meet Patrick Pfreundschuh: An accomplished roboticist's inspiring journey from developing innovative assistive technologies with VariLeg to contributing his expertise and passion to the Sight Guide project, aiming to enhance the lives of visually impaired individuals.

We are excited to introduce Patrick Pfreundschuh as the fourth in a series of articles highlighting the team members working on the Sight Guide project.


Patrick Pfreundschuh - Roboticist and Passionate Innovator

Patrick Pfreundschuh is an accomplished roboticist with a solid background in localization, perception, and robotic learning. He is currently pursuing his PhD at ETH Zurich, a leading institution in the field. Patrick has a wide range of experience, having worked as a Research Assistant at ETH Zurich, as an Engineering Intern at Munich-based robotics startup Magazino, and as a robotics software engineer in team CERBERUS, which won the prestigious DARPA Subterranean Challenge.

Patrick holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science in Robotics, Systems, and Control from ETH Zurich. His Master's thesis focused on dynamic object detection in 3D LiDAR scans.

Having participated in the 2016 Cybathlon as a student team member and serving as a Student Coach for VariLeg enhanced, Patrick already gained extensive expertise in assistive robotics. Patrick's firsthand experience with the challenges and rewards of working on cutting-edge projects will undoubtedly benefit the Sight Guide team as they navigate the complexities of developing assistive technology for the visually impaired.

In today's fast-paced world, robotics has the potential to revolutionize various aspects of our lives. I am excited to be part of a team that strives to create innovative technologies that can enhance the quality of life for individuals.
